I was finally able to convince the Lord of Lords Lutheran Church to use a WordPress system, mostly so that they could make their own edits without compiling a list and sending it to me once a year. Since their old design relied on basic PHP and mostly static HTML, I decided to make an entirely new design, rather than porting the old one to WordPress.

This design still features blue, as it is the only color in their “color scheme” (if you can call it that) with a splash of orange for contrast. The navigation features drop-down menus, and nearly everything is configurable, including the main menu and all of the content within the footer. Additionally, the home page and search page both utilize WordPress’ built-in widget system, thus enabling the church to customize those pages freely as well without editing the template.

I made this for a school project; we needed to create a database-driven site using PHP and MySQL. The course was ended up being an introductory class, as no one enrolled (except myself) had any PHP or MySQL experience, so my role became that of a teaching assistant in the course.

Anyways, the design is based off my recent Blog Template 02.

A redesign of KTED – Casper’s Pure Rock – 100.5 FM, as the current site is atrocious. I designed the site keeping in mind that it could be built on WordPress (or any other blog CMS), as well as some sort of Radio Station CMS.

I have also created a monotone (gray-scale) version of this design, although I personally prefer this colored version over it.

Green Ryno

This was one of my favorites designs for Ryno Studios, for several reasons. I really liked the header design, but I think it would fit better with a business oriented layout, rather than a portfolio layout. I was also very pleased with the color scheme, especially the bright green color.

Generic Template 02

I figured it was time to take a break from blog designs, but I haven’t had much down time lately. So I decided to turn my recent Blog Template 02 into a business template.

I think it turned out very well. I still love the color scheme, and I am happy with the overall layout. The navigation was a little different than my recent stuff, but it seems to fit very well. I might offer this in other color schemes if any one is interested.

Blog Template 02

I came up with the design for this last night. I basically wanted to combine various elements of some of my recent designs into a Blog template. While there are some reused parts, most of the design still had to be completely remade so that everything would fit together well.

I kept the footer from one of my other designs, mostly because I still don’t know what content should go there. I was not happy with the footer in my previous Blog template, but I might replace the one shown now in the future if I ever have a good idea of what to put there instead.

I like the color scheme in this one a lot. I love light designs, as well as blue, so this worked out pretty well. I also like the contrast of the sidebar, which is probably what I spent the most time on.

Blog Template 01

I have never really done much design work for blog layouts. Ryno Studios is currently powered by WordPress, but it is nothing like a blog in terms of structure and layout. I was thinking about that the other day; I can code WordPress designs into themes, but I haven’t designed any blogs. So I realized that I should probably practice making designs that follow the typical blog layout.

I love blue designs, and I really wanted to create a blue/green design. This actually came out very close to an idea I had in my head a few days ago, so I am happy about that as well. This took much longer than my recent templates, mostly because there is so much that needs to go into a blog it seems. I tried to style as many things as possible to show the design is quite modular. I still think the footer looks a little simple/plain, but I don’t have any ideas for that. It certainly fits the design, but I feel I should give it a little more “oomph.”

Portfolio Template 01

I felt like doing a portfolio style template for a change. My personal portfolios always have much more content than this template allows for, so it was good practice for me.

I used a neutral theme here; it started out as being blue, actually. I wanted to use a different color (since I do many blue designs), but I couldn’t decide on any other color (or colors). So neutral it became.

This one is pretty simple, and this layout style seems to be trending right now.

Catering Company Template 01

I spent a few hours on this one, mostly because I tried several layout style before coming to one I liked. This layout is pretty simple and straightforward. I simply keep limiting my creativity for the overall layout of my designs because I know how hard it is to code the unique layouts.

I am again using those 3D banners; they look really neat, and they also break the design up a little bit. I figure pages without a sidebar will use those banners for the main headings as well. Since the front page has a sidebar, it is shown here.

The color scheme pretty much came by accident, but I really like it. I think it fits for a catering company, but could easily be changed for other businesses trying to market their services.
